LIVING WATER RESORT SETS MULTI-YEAR DONATION GOAL TOTALING $100,000 TOWARDS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS AT GEORGIAN COLLEGE
Up to $15,000 has already been raised through 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament
Living Water Resort & Residences, a year-round recreational and tourist destination situated right on the shores of Georgian Bay, has committed to donating $100,000 over multiple years to support Scholarship Programs and building developments at the South Georgian Bay Campus of Georgian College. The donations will be raised from an annual golf tournament and various other initiatives including support from the owner.
As of June 30th, the Resort has already raised up to $15,000 through its 1st Annual Cranberry Charity Golf Tournament on their acclaimed 18-hole golf course in Collingwood, ON. The tournament attracted a number of dignitaries, sponsors and local businesses. It included a full day of golf, dinner and prizes.
The purpose of the funding is to build a social, educational and employment enterprise. The focus of the scholarships will go towards Entrepreneurship, which generates new local business developments, and Hospitality, which provides great employment opportunities.
Further to the funding, Living Water senior staff will act as guest trainers and mentors to the students. Larry and the team strongly believe that making a difference for other’s allows them to lead more joyful lives themselves.
“We are proud to be able to take our business as a mission, a mission to help to build a more profound and harmonious community. It is not about me or you, it is about us,” said Larry Law, President of Living Water Resort & Residences. “We are creating a positive cycle: through post-high school educational opportunities, students have more cost savings and options when the College is right in their hometown, and are therefore more likely to use their newfound skills towards staying and giving back to the community.”
“We are deeply appreciative of the commitment Mr. Law and the team have made to support students attending Georgian College,” said Lisa Banks, Vice President, External Relations for Georgian College. “The donations will fund awards and scholarships benefitting those students most in need of financial assistance ensuring they can continue to pursue their studies leading to rewarding and successful careers.”
As part of their overall commitment to the community, the Resort is in the building stages of its planned Phase 3 developments, with the openings commencing in fall 2015.
Developments include:
• 100 new luxurious 1-bedroom and two bedroom suites;
• Additions to the 5,000 sq. ft. onsite spa with an exclusive hydro wellness experience, one of only two available throughout Canada;
• A 5,000 sq. ft. new waterfront restaurant exclusive to the region offering culinary classes, raw seafood bar and something for all tastes.
