The 2016 Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show took place March 10-13th, at the Expo Centre, Northlands.

The four day Show saw over 41,950 die hard outdoor enthusiasts make their way through the doors of the Expo Centre. “Even in these uncertain economic times, families are drawn to outdoor activities that everyone no matter what the age, can participate in and enjoy,” said Pamela Ziwani, Assistant Show Manager – Alberta, ” the outdoor lifestyle is unique in that many of the activities can be enjoyed no matter what the budget, as well, it provides an opportunity to expose future generations to all the great outdoors has to offer.” 

Nat Geo Wild’s Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet was this year’s special guest.  She participated in an Alberta Birds of Prey Presentation, the NASP Pro-Am Archery Challenge and a Q & A session.  She shared her experiences and lots of amazing stories with show goers and took the time to sign autographs and chat with fans.

The West Coast Lumberjack Show was an entertaining competition style demonstration was enjoyed by all.  The Kid’s Scavenger Hunt, Kids Fishing Pond, Alberta Birds of Prey Presentations and the Alberta Hunter Education Instructor’s Associate exhibits continue to be family favourites. The NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) National Championships saw over 1600 fierce competitors, from schools across Canada compete for the overall title.   

With over 20 million dollars in marine products and boats on display there was no better place to shop and compare than at the Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show.   Show goers spent hours checking out the extensive selection; everything from personal watercraft to pontoon boats, many securing some of the best prices of the season on the watercraft of their dreams.

The Fishin’ Hole’s 35 Hour Savings Fishtacular was a must stop for all the fishermen in the crowd.  The selection and variety of fishing related gear had many stocking up for the season ahead.

The Outdoor Presentation Stage is always a crowd pleaser, playing host to some of Canada’s most renowned outdoorsmen including; TJ Schwanky, Vanessa Harrop, Richard Mellon, Sandi Mellon, Wes David, Claudio Ongaro, Calvin Buckler and Jason Acorn.  These experts shared stories, tips and insights to interested audiences throughout the weekend.

The Show wrapped up on Sunday, March 13th with 20 qualifiers vying for the Husqvarna Spring Clean Up Package valued at over $3,000.00.  Karyn was the last woman standing in the elimination style draw and walked away with everything she will ever need to clean up his yard for the Spring.

As a nonprofit corporation, Canadian National Sportsmen’s Shows is committed to conserving Canada’s outdoors and instilling Canadian youth with an appreciation for nature and outdoor activity.  CNSS uses the proceeds from these 

Shows to support and promote outdoor campaigns and programs in Canada.  Since the first Show in 1948, more than $32,000,000.00 has been donated.

The 2024 Marine Electronics Conference & Expo, held by the National Marine Electronics Association, (NMEA) took place September 16 to the 20th in Providence, Rhode Island. Boating Industry Canada was there for the first time and we were very impressed with what we found.

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
