May 8 ,2016

Mercury Marine, the world leader in marine propulsion and technology, is adding a 53,000 square foot manufacturing capacity expansion to its global headquarters in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.  The expansion will consist of 45,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity and an additional 8,000 square feet of office space.  In addition, Mercury is investing in state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment to better streamline the manufacturing process and meet the growing demands in the marketplace.  The new space will be completed in January, 2017.

“This is an exciting time for Mercury Marine,” said John Pfeifer, Mercury Marine president. “Demand for our product in the global marketplace has afforded us the opportunity to continue to grow and expand our manufacturing capabilities.  This latest expansion will allow us to increase production & capacity to ensure we meet the growing needs of our customer base.”

With this expansion, since 2009, Mercury Marine has invested more than $730MM into capacity, technology and product development.  This is the second major expansion to the Fond du Lac campus in the past 12 months.  In May 2015, Mercury broke ground on a 45,000 square foot expansion to its electro-deposition paint (EDP) system that will significantly expand its processing capabilities.  Mercury continues to create jobs with its growth & related expansions, sourcing close to 80 percent of work on the two most recent expansions to Fond du Lac or Wisconsin based companies such as TTX, CD Smith, Excel Engineering and many more.

“In 2009, we made commitments to grow our global headquarters in Wisconsin and create new jobs, and we continue to do both.  We have very robust growth initiatives over the next few years.”

Mercury currently employs more than 5,000 people worldwide, approximately 2,800 of whom work in Fond du Lac.

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
