VOLVO PENTA EXPANDS AND UPGRADES MARINE SERVICE NETWORK IN MEXICO, CENTRAL AMERICA AND CARIBBEAN

Service technicians from five countries just completed an in-depth two-week training class conducted by Volvo Penta of the Americas in Panama, as part of an ongoing program to expand and upgrade its marine dealer network in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
Volvo Penta holds similar training schools for dealer technicians several times a year in the region. All the classes are conducted in Spanish and give practical hands-on instruction in diagnosis and repair of Volvo Penta marine engines and drives. The participating technicians in the most recent service school represented dealers in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Panama.
“We’ve invested heavily to improve local support for marine customers in Central America and the Caribbean, and technical training is an important element in this strategy,” said Ed Monacchio, vice president of distribution development for Volvo Penta of the Americas. “In the last two years we more than doubled the number of dealers in this region to meet rising demand. We are also taking steps to standardize service and warranty policies and procedures to harmonize with those in North America.”
“We recognize that many U.S. boats migrate to the Caribbean during winter months, and we’re committed to providing boat owners the same quality service they’re accustomed to receiving in North America,” he added.
Many of the countries in Central America and the Caribbean basin are showing robust economic growth. Economic forecasts for these countries range from three to six percent of GDP in 2017.
