TOAST THE BEST IN BOATING AND TASTE THE BEST IN BREWS AND BACCHUS AT SEATTLE BOAT SHOW’S FESTIVE FRIDAY NIGHTS
Jan 12, 2017
When the 70th annual Seattle Boat Show opens on Friday Jan. 27, there will be more than 1,000 boats on display at two locations (indoors at CenturyLink Field Event Center and afloat on South Lake Union), three acres of electronics and accessories, more than 200 free seminars and advanced training classes for a fee through Boat Show University. It’s serious stuff for sure. It’s the place to shop for the boat of your dreams, buy a new toy or accessory for your current boat and brush up on boating skills. But it’s also the biggest boating party of the year and a place to reconnect with boating friends old and new and plan new boating adventures. Particularly festive and conducive to socializing are the two Friday nights of the show with a wine event – Uncorked – on Jan. 27 and a craft beer event – Sails & Ales – on Feb. 3.
Carpe Vinum at Uncorked – Friday Jan. 27
The show opens at 11am on January 27, and Uncorked, presented by Basta Boat Lifts, runs from 5-9 pm. Showgoers can swirl, sniff and sip their way through the show, tasting a variety of premium Northwest and California wines at nine tasting stations set up throughout the indoor location at CenturyLink Field Event Center. The featured wineries this year are: Kamiak, Novelty Hill, Renegade, Canoe Ridge, L’ Ecole, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Gordon Estate and Firesteed Cellars.
Sip Some Suds at Sails & Ales – Friday Feb. 3
For those who prefer the grain to the grape, Sails & Ales, the craft beer night presented by S3 Maritime on the second Friday of the show, is for them. From 5-9 pm showgoers can taste the very best in artisanal beers from eight different breweries and one cidery. Breweries this year are: Hop Valley, Full Sail, Maritime, Dru Brew, Georgetown, Two Beers, Bellevue and Gilgamesh. Each brewery will be pouring three different offerings. For cider fans, Fremont’s Schilling Cider will have three of their ciders made from 100% locally sourced apples for tasting.
Packages for Uncorked and Sails & Ales can be purchased online for $29 per event at www.SeattleBoatShow.com. This price includes a single adult admission to the show valid throughout the day at both locations, plus a complimentary souvenir wine or beer glass (while supplies last) and six tasting tokens. Tickets for Uncorked and Sails & Ales will also be available at the Box Office.
