Freedom Boat Club COO, Louis Chemi welcomes new owner Steve

McPherson and Caitrin McPherson of Toronto, Ontario

Freedom Boat Club, the nation’s oldest and largest boat club and exclusive powerboat club franchisor in North America with 160+ clubs in 31 states and Canada, recently appointed a new franchise owner/operator to serve the Toronto, Ontario market. This new addition brings the total number of Freedom Boat Clubs in Canada to four, including the recently opened Halifax, Nova Scotia club, along with two locations in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Steve McPherson is the operator of the new franchise and is basing the club on western Lake Ontario at Outer Harbor Marina, Toronto. McPherson is a marine industry veteran with 25 years’ experience. He has previously served as President of Navy Point Marine in Sackets Harbor, NY and Navy Point Yacht Sales in Toronto.

“We are very pleased to welcome Steve to our franchise organization, and we are especially thrilled to expand our presence in the Canadian market,” Freedom Boat Club President and CEO John Giglio said in a statement. “Strong demand for club expansion by Canadian boaters has led to the launch of the new Toronto and recently opened Halifax locations, with further expansion planned for the near future.”

The Toronto Freedom Boat Club is gearing up for a major summer grand opening and launch slated for July 7th. It will offer free boat training, monthly member socials, and a mix of popular boating brands in the fleet, including Jeanneau, Hurricane, and Campion.

“We are really excited to open the Toronto market,” said McPherson. “Toronto is an amazing waterfront city and boating on Lake Ontario is a popular pastime. By offering free training, quality new boats and reciprocal access nationwide, we believe the club will prove to be a natural fit to Toronto’s outdoor recreation opportunities and attractive to existing and new boaters in the GTA.”
