2019 EDMONTON BOAT AND SPORTSMEN’S SHOW OPENS MARCH 14-17 AT THE EDMONTON EXPO CENTRE

The 2019 Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show runs March 14-17 at the Edmonton Expo Centre. Western Canada’s biggest outdoor show is a sign that winter is winding down and soon we can get out and enjoy all that the great outdoors has to offer.
 
“Warmer weather is just around the corner, and if you love spending time outdoors then the Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show is a must attend event,” says Marla Kimball, Show Manger, “this is your first opportunity of the season to see what’s new in boats, accessories and power sports, or gear up for your next outdoor adventure.”
 
No stone has been left unturned, the 2019 Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show covers everything from gear and adventure tourism to education and helpful advice from professionals.
 
Family fun is always a focus, and this year is no different.  For the first time ever the Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show will feature Twiggy the World Famous water-skiing squirrel. This is an entertaining all ages’ interactive show that incorporates elements of water safety and learning to waterski.  Also new this year is Strike Combat Archery.  Gear up, arm yourself with foam tipped arrows and go into stealth mode, taking cover behind inflatable obstacles to avoid being hit by your opponent’s arrow. The West Coast Lumberjack’s are back by popular demand. Their show features head to head competition in a number of lumberjack skills. Fierce competition in logrolling, crosscutting, axe throwing and standing block chop are examples of what audiences will be treated to.  In addition there are numerous interactive and hands on activities for the whole family.
 
Throughout the four day show, the Outdoor Stage will play host to an impressive line-up of presenters who will inform and entertain audiences with tips, tricks and anecdotes related to fishing, hunting and the outdoor lifestyle.  This year’s presenters include; Wes David, host of Fishing the Wild West, Sean and Adam Konrad better known as the Fishinggeeks, newcomer to the Show, outdoor enthusiast Lisa Roper, National level archer, Cole Beres, avid hunters Mitchell and Roger Payment, hosts of Mitchell Payment’s Moment of Truth TV, wild game cooking master, Brad Fenson, and fly fishing guide and expert, Josh Nugent. This group of experienced pros are eager to share their wealth of knowledge with interested show goers.
 
There is an ever-growing emphasis on the environment, and preservation and conservation are top of mind for many.  If this is an area of interest you, there is no lack of information, interest groups and like-minded people to talk to.  There are a number of organizations that will have a big presence at the Show including the Alberta Hunter Education Instructors Association (AHEIA), Edmonton Reptile Parties, and the Edmonton Fish and Game Association, just to name a few.  These organizations have one thing in common, and that is to educate and provide information in a fun hands on way.
 
The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) will once again host the Provincial Championships.  Watch as some of the most talented archers in the Province compete for the coveted title.

Husqvarna will be bringing in the very talented Marina Cole to show off her chainsaw carving skills.  She will be creating intricate works of art right at the Show. 
 
Squeals of excitement can always be heard coming from the Kids Trout Fishing Pond.  Kids under the age of 12 can try their hand at catching a live trout.  This unique opportunity provides many youngsters with their first catch and release experience.  All proceeds benefit the Edmonton Fish and Game Association.

If quiet and serenity are more your style, then fly-fishing just might be your thing.  The Fly Fishing Learning Centre caters to all levels of skill and experience.  Learn to tie flies or perfect your casting technique with advice from some of the best local fly fisherman.  Take the opportunity to have one of the experts analyze your technique at the casting pond.
 
Stock up on everything from boat accessories, tackle, and camping gear or dare to dream as you wander through the Boat Hall and choose the watercraft you have always wanted.  The Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show is an outdoor lover’s paradise.
