NMMA Canada ramps up advocacy as new Federal Cabinet sworn-in

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau named his cabinet last week following the September 20 election that saw the Liberals returned to a minority government. Familiar faces include Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland; Francois-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry; and Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development. New ministers with files that impact recreational boating include:
• Randy Boissonnault—Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance
• Gudie Hutchings—Minister of Rural Economic Development
• Joyce Murray—Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard
• Carla Qualtrough—Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion
NMMA Canada in their most recent newsletter, stated that the association is reaching out to new ministers to introduce our industry and advocate for priorities such as removing boats from the luxury tax and investing in outdoor recreation infrastructure. Expect an update soon on the luxury tax efforts.
