Fire hits Brewers’ Marine Supply in Hamilton

Fire at Brewers

Jan 25, 2022

On Jan 17, 2021, the Office of the Fire Marshal was called in to investigate a mid-day blaze at Brewers’ Marine Supply on Guise Street East between John and Discovery Drive in Hamilton, Ontario.

Reports in the Global TV News said that the Hamilton fire department is estimating the cost of damage to be in the neighbourhood of $3 million after the mid-day multiple alarm blaze on Monday.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and the Ministry of the Environment described the scene as a “deep-seated, well-involved fire”.

“The alarm was then upgraded to a third alarm, given the heavy fire conditions,” Assistant Deputy Chief Shawn De Jager told Global News. “It took over an hour for firefighting crews to bring the fire under control.”

There were no injuries during the blaze which was doused amid severe winter storm conditions.

Boating Industry Canada News Week spoke to Brad Brewer who explained the situation. “It was a secondary warehouse with overflow inventory and some other equipment. Because of the snow storm that day, there was no one in the building, so there were no injuries. “

He continued, “We are still open at our main location and we haven’t missed any shipments. The industry has been very supportive and we should be able to re-stock within the next four weeks. We won’t know any more details until the fire department’s investigation is complete.”

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
