Up in the air…

Literally. As you read this Tuesday morning, I’ll be up in the air aboard Air Canada with a whole host of other Canadian marine industry people, all heading for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. It’s going to be simply nuts!

Because of Hurricane Ian, IBEX 2022 had to be cancelled at the last minute and so, many companies scrambled to get their new products into the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) even though it’s a consumer show, but at least the boat builder audience will be there.

We applaud the IBEX show management for both the selfless courage to cancel IBEX at the very last moment for the safety of all the people who were planning to attend the show in Tampa and then for their very good virtual IBEX Industry Breakfast session on Thursday October 20th so NMMA President Frank Hugelmeyer could give the industry business update and also to give Zuzana Prochazka of Boating Writers International the opportunity to announce all the IBEX Innovation Award winners for this year.

It was a great showing of outstanding ideas and innovation and hopefully at FLIBS, we will get the chance to see many of the products that missed their debut at IBEX. Watch for many of these new products in Boating Industry Canada News Week Digest this week and in the coming weeks as we lead up to our own shows here in Canada.
