The Maritime Museum of BC’s 4th annual Float the Boat fundraising campaign nears its end, running until 4 April 2024. Only one more milestone in the Museum’s boat tank remains: $25,000!

There is only one full weekend left of the campaign, and their boat has cleared its $20,000 milestone on the way to the Museum’s campaign goal of $25,000.

“This is the final stretch,” said Executive Director Brittany Vis, “we are so delighted with the public response so far to our 4th annual campaign, as it shows staff and Board at the Maritime Museum of BC that our everyday operations are so cherished by our communities near and far. Donations go directly to running our education programs, launching exhibits, and caring for our vast Collection, as well as brand new initiatives we are launching this year.”

Upcoming initiatives directly supported by the Float the Boat campaign include:

            • opening 7 days per week starting on May 19;

            • new program options for all ages with the launch of Salty Sundays starting May 19;

            • two new community exhibits will open in 2024, starting with No Walk in the Woods: The History of the West Coast Trail on April 11;

            • public Collections Tours starting in Fall 2024—get a look behind the scenes at the Maritime Museum of BC collections storage facility;

            • SV Dorothy going on tour this summer, attending local festivals in the lead up to the Classic Boat Festival in Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

Final Float the Boat Matching Period
From Friday, 29 March to the end of the campaign on Thursday, 4 April,donations will be matched up to $2000 total, thanks to the Board of Directors at the Maritime Museum of BC.

“For this final stretch, the Board of Directors at the Maritime Museum of BC ask you to join us for a final matching period,” said President of the Board, Jamie Webb, “until the end of the campaign, we will be matching donations up to a total of $2,000. This is your chance to turn $1 into $2; $100 into $200; even $1000 into $2000 if you donate right now!”

“Even the smallest donation is of huge help to a small non-profit museum like us,” said Vis, “and matching periods help stretch your donation even further to support everything we do.”

President of the Board of Directors, Jamie Webb, stands ready to begin the final matching period!
