Busy Time of Year

The fall is always a busy time of year but this year feels even more hectic than usual. I didn’t get down to the NMEA Annual Conference this year, but I hear it was very good and a reflection of the many exciting developments in the marine electronics field. There certainly were a lot of new products at the IBEX Show held October 7, 8 and 9, 2025 in Tampa. Again, this week, Boating Industry Canada News Week Digest will continue to showcase those stories.

We are just proofing and finalizing the December 2025 issue of Canadian Boating magazine. It goes on press soon, as I am arriving in Fort Lauderdale for the 2025 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. But then, in the morning of October 22, I got word that Charlie Bulmer had passed away.

Charlie and his father Currey Bulmer were a key part of Canada’s marine industry, in Ontario and well beyond. The C.C. Marine Distributor’s business could always be counted on to support the industry and the people in it. After more than 50 years in the business, Charlie was a legendary “people person” and his warm personality and great sense of humour was always there to reach out and welcome you at every occasion and event where the industry gathered.

The C.C. Marine fall show is not being held this year for various reasons, but I feel confident that it will return next fall with Chris and Kelly welcoming everyone as Charlie always did.

As I go through the halls, the docks and all the meetings at the Fort Lauderdale Show, I know I will be thinking of Charlie and the C.C. Marine family back home and I look forward to seeing them next, when I arrive at the Boating Ontario Conference where they always attended.

The fall is a really busy time but it’s a great time of year to get together and be thankful that we are in the friendly family of the Marine industry.
