Andy Adams, Managing Editor of Canadian Yachting magazine and Boating Industry Canada was the host for the occasion

On Tuesday, January 12th at the Allstream Centre across from the Enercare Centre where the 2016 Toronto international Boat Show was taking place, a crowd of about 230 industry members gathered for the NMMA Canada 2016 Recreational Boating Industry Breakfast.

Andy Adams, Managing Editor of Canadian Yachting magazine and Boating Industry Canada was the host for the occasion and also delivered a brief presentation about the Skills Shortage in the marine industry, highlighting the risk that Georgian College could close their marine tech training program and describing the Boating Ontario and Ontario Tourism initiative to attract more students into what is now Ontario’s only college doing marine tech training and education. New supporter Cottage Life magazine editor Michelle Kelly gave a brief talk about their media properties and then event organizer and NMMA Canada Vice President Sara Anghel delivered an update on key industry data from the new NMMA Canada Boating Statistical Abstract.

This was followed by Tracey Hart who brought the crowd up to date on the progress being made through the Discover Boating program. Then, the main sponsor of the event, GE Capital Distribution Finance presented keynote speaker, Julian Brass founder of Notables.ca and the Notables Awards. He delivered a thought-provoking presentation on the Millennial Generation, how to attract, employ and train them, as well as how to sell to this important new generation.
