THE INDUSTRY MOURNS THE LOSS OF GEORGE CUTHBERTSON, FOUNDER OF C&C YACHTS

George Cuthbertson

Oct 10, 2017

We were saddened to learn that George Cuthbertson, founder of Cuthbertson & Cassian (C&C) Yachts, passed away on October 3, 2017 at his home in Toronto.

Truly one of the greats in Canadian boat design and boat building, George created an amazing and perhaps unequalled legacy of both outstanding boats and outstanding marine professionals; the list of people who worked with him and their accomplishments in the ensuing years, would make any Canadian proud.

A remarkable and large reunion of the boat building family that C&C Yachts created took place in April 2012 and we were there on behalf of Canadian Yachting and Boating Industry Canada magazines.

Our OnBoard editor, John Morris wrote the occasion up and it contains a detailed recounting of the C&C Yachts history as well as significant information about George Cuthbertson himself.

We invite our readers to re-visit this wonderful Canadian story at: http://boatingindustry.ca/images/PDFs/bic201206-dl.pdf

We have also learned that the Cuthbertson family has confirmed that the funeral will be a private affair, but they plan to have an event in the future to celebrate George’s life.

News Week and Canadian Yachting OnBoard will share further details when they become available. If you are not a subscriber to the Canadian Yachting OnBoard newsletters, you can get a subscription at no charge by signing up here: http://subscription.canadianyachting.ca/
