The largest boat and outdoors show returns February 18-21, 2016

The Ottawa Boat and Sportsmen’s Show is bringing summer early to Ottawa. Returning to the EY Centre from February 18 to 21, the region’s largest consumer show dedicated to boating and outdoors will give Ottawaians a head start in planning their summer adventure.

With hundreds of exhibitors under one roof, showgoers will find everything from competition boats, to personal watercrafts, pontoons, canoes, kayaks and off-road recreational vehicles plus a variety of fishing and watersports gear. The show will also include fishing seminars brought you by some of Canada’s leading pro sports fishermen.

Showgoers of all ages are also in for a treat with brand new exciting features, including Husqvarna’s West Coast Chainsaw Artist, hands-on wildlife educational group ‘Speaking of Wildlife’ and an incredible selection of historical antique and classic boats provided by the Manotick Antique Boat Club.

“We are excited to be returning to Ottawa this year. Hands down, this is one of the best places to get a deal on your next boat, book a family vacation with a local outfitter, or find the latest in hunting and fishing gear and much more. Entertainment for the entire family will be featured over the course of the weekend making it one of the best outdoor tradeshows to attend this year,” says Meagan Sheehan, Show Manager.

Show Highlights:

Boats, Boats and more Boats – If you’re in the market for a new boat, motor or trailer, this is a must attend event. Preview hundreds of brand new 2016 models, new non-current boats and motors on display. There simply is no better place to browse, buy from local dealers, compare and get great deals on new boats, engines and accessories for early spring delivery.

Husqvarna’s West Coast Chainsaw Artist – Make sure to carve out some time for Kevin Lewis, the incredible chainsaw artist from Comox Valley, British Columbia. Watch as he skillfully flicks his roaring chainsaws to create stunning works of art and be amazed at the attention to detail. You may even get the chance to take one of these exquisite masterpieces home with you, as select works will be available for purchase.

Speaking of Wildlife – Get up close and personal with some of Ontario’s magnificent wildlife. Delivering hands-on wildlife education since 1989, the organization’s friendly and knowledgeable staff will deliver programs that are both enlightening and entertaining.

2016 Casting Pond Challenge – One of the most anticipated events of the show, the casting pond is for everyone! Rookie or veteran, novice or pro, can test their skills to win a prize. After taking the challenge, learn a few fishing tips from “Big Jim” McLaughlin and some of Canada’s premier anglers.

Walk down memory lane – Take a walk down memory lane and discover antique wooden canoes, sailboats, runabouts and cruisers at the Manotick Antique Boat Club display.

Stay Clear, Stay Safe – Ontario Power Generation (OPG) will teach you how to stay safe around hydroelectric stations and dams in Ontario on Saturday, Feb. 20. Visitors will each be given a water safety bag to help make their next trip out on the water a safe one.

Feel the Bite: North America’s only completely Blind Fishing Pro, Lawrence Gunther, returns to the show and will be introducing new techniques, equipment, and tips on how to make sense of what can be learned through your senses. CMRA
