Momentum Building For International Nautical Congress of Colombia

Developed and organized by the newly formed trade association, Asociación Náutica de Colombia (ANC), together with partners National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), Centro de Convenciones de Cartagena de Indias (CCCI) and International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA), the Congress Programme focuses on issues such as ‘Understanding the needs of the Colombian Marine Market, ‘Safety & Security’ and ‘Developing an Action Plan for Colombia’s Nautical Future’.

Whilst breakout sessions will offer delegates the chance to learn about the ‘Doing Business in Colombia’, ‘Charter Destination and Fractional Ownership’, ‘The Secrets of a Successful Boat Dealership’, ‘Discovering Interior Waterways’ and ‘Preparing Colombia for Nautical Tourism’.

With industry heavyweights such as Bellingham Marine Group, the world’s largest builder of recreational marinas, confirmed as Platinum Sponsor, and MarineMax, a recreational boat and yacht retailer providing yacht brokerage and charter services, and Ronautica Marinas, a national leader in designing, fabricating, installing and operating Marinas, confirmed as Gold sponsors, the International Nautical Congress of Colombia is already proving to be the industry leader in showcasing Colombia’s future potential and opportunities for the global marine industry.

“Colombia may be Latin America’s best revival story as it makes a successful push to become the region’s next top boating destination”, says Antonella Farah, Executive Director of ANC. “The Congress will provide the opportunity for industry colleagues from around the globe to learn about this emerging boating market and outline steps you can take to ensure your business is prepared to engage”.

Voted as “The happiest country in the world”, according to a survey undertaken by the Worldwide Independent Network of Market Research, Colombia has a lot to boast about. It’s the fourth largest economy in Latin America, and has fast become a free market economy, with major commercial and investment ties to the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America with 13 Free Trade Agreements.

“Colombia’s stable economy, coupled with its beneficial geographical location below the hurricane belt, make it an ideal location to become a thriving boating destination for the South American and Caribbean regions” Says ICOMIA Secretary General, Udo Kleinitz. “With its strong commitment for political stability, a growing middle class, and a vastly improved safety and security situation, Colombia is undergoing an economic boom that’s set to continue”.
