In response to the growing concern about how our industry is addressing the lack of diversity and our ability to reach new consumers the Boating Ontario Conference has announced its closing keynote speaker, 50 Shades of Beige: Communicate with the Cross-Cultural Advantage in the Boating Industry, Presented by Tina Varughese. Taking place November 27-29th at Blue Mountain Resort, the Annual Boating Ontario Conference features a full line up of exciting and inspiring speakers who will provide you with real education you can apply to your business.

Closing Keynote – 50 Shades of Beige: Communicate with the Cross-Cultural Advantage in the Boating Industry Presented by Tina Varughese.

Opportunities to grow in the boating industry exist in Canada yet are not necessarily being embraced. There is an emerging, exciting, untapped market of culturally diverse boaters that is not being realized. Potentially, there is an assumption that minorities are not interested nor can afford high-end purchases such as recreational boats. Not true! New and existing immigrants to Canada are a huge, untapped market. The top source immigrant sources are China, India and the Philippines yet those same markets are very unrepresented in the boating industry. Understanding cultural differences is no longer a nicety, it’s a necessity particularly in an industry with unrealized growth potential.   Everybody can benefit from communicating more effectively, however, when 20% of Canada’s population is foreign-born, communicating with the cross-cultural advantage is arguably one of the most important types of communication to understand and benefit from in the 21st century.  Additionally, second and third generation immigrants are highly influenced by parental values, beliefs and cultural nuances. With understanding comes opportunity and potential for growth in sales, brand loyalty and profitability. By building trust and rapport through understanding, recognizing and respecting cultural differences, realizing the importance of non-verbal communication, particularly in regards to negotiations, members of the Boating Ontario Association can capitalize and profit from this often untapped market.

Four Winns’ new H9 is stunning!

CMRA

As of July 1st, 2024 the embargo is lifted on the photos and information about Four Winns’ new H9 model and it is stunning!

About a month ago, I traveled to Charlevoix, MI for a special press event to introduce the H9 to a small group of journalists. The water and the weather were a bit cool but the sun was out and Lake Charlevoix was calm and the Four Winns H9 was very impressive. This is a 29-foot 11-inch luxury day boat with a 9- foot 2-inch beam and it features a fabulous expansive flat floor all the way from the bow rider area to the transom and the swim platform.
