Capital Engineering, a division of Mercury Marine is pleased to announce that it has surpassed 1,650 days of no lost time – a record for the plant.  The Brookfield based location is Mercury’s in-house tooling and die operations, supporting the company’s Fond du Lac aluminum diecasting and casting business.

The plant operates two shifts, with nearly 60 hourly and engineering support personnel designing and developing world-class tool and die components.

“Safety is one of our core values and reaching this milestone during a time of unprecedented growth speaks volumes of the commitment of the entire team to working safely every day,” said Mike Meyer, Mercury Marine castings unit general manager.  “Over the past several years, Mercury has invested several million dollars in state-of-the-art machining centers to further enhance safety, quality and productivity.”

In addition to its investment in machining, Mercury has invested heavily in 5S+1 and ergonomics to organize and optimize operations, driving efficiency, safety and productivity to achieve world class manufacturing and product development.  In addition, the Brookfield plant has an active apprenticeship program, helping employees develop skills needed for ongoing success.

“We know safety is a key value of our employees and we will continue our commitment to safety at all of our manufacturing operations,” said Chris Drees, Mercury Marine vice president of global operations. “We constantly strive to maintain work areas in a clean, organized and safe manner, promote a clean, safe and healthy work environment and ensure processes, equipment and facilities are safely arranged and safeguarded.”
