MarineMax, the nation’s largest boating retailer and operator of MarineMax Vacations in the Caribbean, has announced that the company will be donating a portion of new charter booking fees to the rebuilding of the British Virgin Islands.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to make this commitment to the residents and businesses of the British Virgin Islands. Tourism is an integral part of the economy of the islands and we are proud to be aiding in the restoration” stated Brett McGill, President and COO of MarineMax.

The destruction caused by Hurricane Irma in the British Virgin Islands was significant and while the islands are in strong restoration mode evident through daily advances, there continues to be a lot of work ahead as they prepare to welcome visitors this upcoming charter season. Funds raised through this effort will go towards rebuilding the territory and assisting the island residents and business owners in the restoration of their homes and livelihoods.

Raul Bermudez, MarineMax Vacations Vice President, elaborated that “The British Virgin Islands are, and always will be, paradise and home to some of the world’s premier travel destinations. The Baths at Virgin Gorda, the RMS Rhone National Marine Park, The Indians – these are some the top Caribbean hotspots and remain as gorgeous as ever, surrounded by the beautiful crystal waters and underwater sea life we envision of the islands. Favorite island watering holes are undergoing restoration as the island shores are preparing to welcome guests this season overflowing with island vibes and cold beverages that the BVI are known for, including White Bay, home of the popular Pain Killer signature beverage.”

“Donating 10% of new reservations for travel beginning in December through March 1, 2018 feels like the right step to support the rejuvenation and economy of the British Virgin Islands and those that live there,” stated Dave Bigge, Regional President of MarineMax. “We are all United by Water, and our dedicated support of our team, the islands, and our guests are an extension of the MarineMax family and boating passion.”

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
