ONTARIO GOVERNMENT CONSIDERING INCREASING RENEWABLE CONTENT (ETHANOL) IN FUELS

Earlier this month, NMMA Canada participated in a stakeholder consultation with the Ministry of Environment to discuss the government’s proposal to increase the renewable content (e.g. ethanol) in gasoline to 15% as early as 2025 in Ontario.

NMMA Canada made a submission to the Ontario government asking that blends above E10 not be considered. This message was reiterated at an in-person stakeholder session. It is likely that E15 will proceed in Ontario, so NMMA Canada is asking for proper labelling and extensive education to consumers. Officials from the Ministry of Environment have invited the industry to sit down with the government to provide input into the education campaign.
