New modular drain solution reduces thru-hulls

Flow Rite Modular Drain Solution

Nov 28, 2022

From the cost of labor to the price of parts, every thru-hull a boatbuilder installs means more time a boat is in production and less profit when it’s sold. The new Qwik-Lok® Marine Manifold from Flow-Rite is a unique modular plumbing solution that decreases the number of holes needed in a hull by directing multiple drains into a single thru-hull outlet. Built-to-spec for a specific boat model and fast and easy to install, it increases overall vessel aesthetics and maximizes drainage performance.

Made in the USA, Qwik-Lok connectors are manufactured from marine-grade polypropylene. With a toolless design, assembly is fast and easy. The 1-1/2″ fitting is comprised of a male end with dual O-rings that slides into the female side for a solid, watertight connection. An easy-to-grasp four-fingered collar provides maximum one-handed engagement and reduces the need for boatbuilders to contort themselves while installing.

Because the Flow-Rite Qwik-Lok® Marine Manifold draws together multiple plumbing 3/4″ and/or 1-1/8″ hoses, installations are cleaner and less cluttered. This adaptability makes it ideal for linking together such dissimilar drainage lines as bilges, sinks, livewells and coolers.

Each Qwik-Lok® Marine Manifold is fully custom, from the number of feed lines to their exact placement. Units are shipping fully assembled and ready for installation, so there’s no wasteful scrap material.

End users appreciate the aesthetics of fewer thru-hulls and the reduced risk of leakage. And if they decide to add another component that requires a drain, technicians will appreciate how quickly and easily modular Flow-Rite Qwik-Loks disconnect and reconnect.

Flow-Rite is a vertically integrated company that designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of marine fluid control devices for recreational and commercial vessels. Its products are made in an ISO 9001-compliant facility using green manufacturing processes and materials.

Good Advice that You Can Share – The Art of Anchoring

Unless a boat is secured, it will drift away. If it cannot be attached to something secure, such as a dock, piling, mooring buoy, tree, or boulder, it must be anchored. There is much more to anchoring than simply tossing the anchor over the side.

An anchoring system has two parts: the anchor itself and the rode which connects the anchor to the boat. To be effective, an anchor must have good holding power, and the rode must be strong enough to withstand the strains that are put on it.
