For cost-effective lumens, no underwater light beats Apelo

Apelo Underwater Lights

Apr 17, 2023

For the most cost-effective illumination on the market, no surface-mount underwater LED light comes close to the Apelo series from Hella marine. The powerful and reliable A1 model provides 1,800 lumens of crisp blue/white light while the A2 delivers a walloping 3,000 lumens—all drawing less power than competitors. For rich and vibrant RBG light, the Apelo series also offers versions that produce the full color spectrum.

Robotically manufactured in New Zealand, Apelo lights are sealed to IP68 and IP69 standards for absolute reliability. Compact, they’re only 3-3/4″ in dia. and less than 1″ H. The electronically protected fixtures can be run while the boat is out of the water to double as utility lights. Advanced circuitry ensures that the lamps won’t interfere with onboard communication and navigation systems. Multivolt technology provides spike protection to +500 V and reverse polarity to -700V. Each Apelo light features a durable Grilamid lens that combines with optical intelligence to focus a wider horizontal spread of light with a narrow vertical distribution. RGB colors can be selected using almost any brand of LED controller and many networked devices.

The Apelo A1 is available with blue/white LEDs or RGB LEDs, they draw 20W and 15W, respectively. Ideal for boats up to 40′ in length, the lamps have corrosion-resistant black thermal polymer housings and are offered with white or charcoal face plates.

With the incorporation of Edge Light technology, the Apelo A2 range adds distinctive glowing signatures of elegant white illumination through three extra LED banks. The fixtures are available in blue/white with a “fishing mode” strobe or RGB versions, both drawing only 30W. Housings are offered in aluminum or bronze with white or charcoal face plates.

Hella marine Apelo underwater LED lights are prewired with 8′ of multi-core marine cable for easy surface-mount installation. They require a 5/8″ center and three screw holes. The lamps are backed by a five-year warranty.
