Few onboard navigation devices are as convenient as the X-11Y SportAbout Handheld magnetic compass from Ritchie Navigation. Simple to use, it provides a quick and accurate heading fix and is ideal for determining the relative bearing of other vessels.

Made in the USA, the SportAbout Handheld magnetic compass has an easy-to-read 2″ dial with black contrasting marks, numbers and heading letters. The dial is set atop a sapphire jewel and hardened steel pivot movement. A built-in roller diaphragm provides an extended temperature operating range.

The international safety yellow silicone case is impact resistant and has an integrated QuickSight V-notch with lubber line for simple heading alignment. At only 2.6″ L x 2.5″ W x 1.4″ H, the SportAbout Handheld magnetic compass is easy to hold, even with gloves. A lanyard is included as are Cyalume light sticks that provide 18 hours of night illumination.

The X-11Y SportAbout Handheld magnetic compass from Ritchie Navigation costs $62.45 USD. An available black (X-11-H) or white (X-11-HW) SportAbout Holder mounts to any flat surface with three screws to keep the device close at hand; it runs $18.84 USD and additional Cyalume light sticks are $15.75 USD for four.
