Snap & Zipper lube: no Aspirin needed
Aug 27, 2024
Anyone who has fought with a zipper that won’t close or a snap that’s stuck knows the headaches it can create. The remedy is Snap Stick from Shurhold. This water-resistant lubricant and protectant is easy to apply and was designed specifically for outdoor plastic and metal hardware.
Unlike sprays or gels that can stain surrounding surfaces, Snap Stick comes in a convenient tube similar to lipstick. With a simple twist, this product only goes where it’s needed. The unique wax-like formula is ideal for snaps, zippers, hinges and other small hardware exposed to dirt, grime, salt and harsh outdoor environments. One application lasts up to three months. Unscented, non-toxic and biodegradable, it won’t harm fabric, gelcoat, metal or plastic. A video is at www.bit.ly/2BWwnuc.
For snaps, Snap Stick should be rubbed on the male stud end and then snapped together to lubricate and protect both halves. All snaps should be treated, even the ones that are rarely used, to prevent them from seizing in the future.
When applying to zippers, Snap Stick can be run along the open teeth of both sides and then worked in using the zipper pull. It also works great on zippers off the boat, like on golf bags, tents and wetsuits. Snap Stick can even be rubbed onto a key to protect the inside of locks or along a drill bit as a lubricant.
