Canadian Boating, a division of Kerrwil Media Limited, is pleased to welcome Mathew Channer to the position of Associate Editor

Oct 8, 2024

Mathew brings a wealth of unique recreational and professional boating experience in both power boating and sailing. He found his love of being on the water while growing up in Australia, fishing, wakeboarding, and sailing with his family. At the age of 18, Mathew stepped aboard an exploratory yacht as a volunteer, a decision which led to the next three years working as a deckhand all over the world. By 23 he was a licensed captain (Master <24m) and has spent the last decade working both offshore and inshore on the east coast of Australia. Recently arrived in Canada’s Georgian Bay area, water and recreational boating remain a big part of Mathew’s lifestyle.

Mathew’s boating experience, his education in Journalism and Creative Writing, and his Freelance experience in a variety of genres bring a unique element to Canadian Boating. In his role, Mathew will work closely with the Canadian Boating and Boating Industry Canada editorial teams to manage and create original boating content.

Kerrwil President, Jill Snider, notes that “Mathew has demonstrated a keen interest in the boating community in Canada as well as a talent for writing about his experiences in boating. We are excited for him to join our experienced boating and creative teams and look forward to sharing his work with our readers!”

Mathew will join Andy Adams, Jill Snider and the CB Team at future events, boat reviews and shows. Please take a moment to welcome and introduce yourself to our newest team member when you see him!

Based in Midland, ON, Canadian Boating is a division of Kerrwil Media Limited. Its core brands are Canadian Boating Magazine, Onboard, Boating Industry Canada, PORTS Cruising Guides and partner publications Boating Ontario Directory, Toronto & Vancouver Boat Show Guides.
