Legend Boats’ Marc Duhamel Inducted into NMMA Canada Hall of Fame

Marc Duhamel

Jan 28, 2025

NMMA Canada has announced the induction of industry veteran, Marc Duhamel, into the NMMA Canada Hall of Fame, its most prestigious honor. Duhamel, co-CEO and president of Legend Boats, was recognized this morning during the NMMA Canada State of the Industry Breakfast at the Toronto International Boat Show.

Duhamel’s passion for the boating industry began at an early age as he immersed himself in the family business, co-founded by his father, Victor. During this time, he gained hands-on experience and cultivated a deep understanding of the marine industry. In 1992, after graduating with honors from Laurentian University, Duhamel joined Legend Boats full-time and immediately began applying his knowledge and vision to elevate the company.

Under Duhamel’s guidance, Legend Boats achieved several significant milestones, including the introduction of innovative boat designs and customer-centric practices to make boating accessible for customers. He also helped set industry standards in Canada by using more durable production practices.

Notably, he expanded operations to four fully owned retail stores, launched innovative ventures such as boatopia.com and achieved recognition on Boating Industry’s Top 100 Dealers for 10 consecutive years.

“Throughout his career, Marc has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation and the recreational boating industry,” said Marie-France MacKinnon, executive director of NMMA Canada. “His service on the NMMA Board of Directors for more than 15 years has been invaluable, playing a pivotal role in strategic initiatives and industry advocacy, including leading efforts around Boating Day on Parliament Hill.”

The NMMA Canada Hall of Fame, established in 1988, is the Association’s highest honor. It recognizes individuals who have, or continue to generate, substantial and lasting contributions toward the advancement of the marine industry. The award honors individuals whose names and deeds are synonymous with the pursuit of quality, innovation, and perfection within their respective spheres of expertise.
