Boating Ontario proudly supported the next generation of marine professionals during the Toronto International Boat Show, awarding multiple bursaries to deserving students dedicated to the industry.

At the conclusion of a long day of labs and exams at the Skills Ontario competition, six young marine students were met with an unexpected but much-appreciated surprise. Boating Ontario CEO, Rick Layzell, addressed the students, thanking them for their hard work and passion for the marine industry. Then, with a smile, he asked, “Who here needs new tools?” As all six hands shot up, he announced that each student would receive $500 from the Boating Ontario MarineWorx Development Fund to help support their careers.

The well-earned reward went to:

            • Jackson Thomas

            • Sam Harrison

            • Cam Stephens

            • Emily Wentland

            • Alex Ptolemy-French

            • Aiden Huibers

The celebration didn’t stop there. Boating Ontario was also thrilled to recognize Jackson Thomas with his second $1,000 MarineWorx bursary, supporting his travel and accommodation expenses as he continues his case studies in the Georgian College Marine & Small Engines Program. Jackson’s dedication to the marine industry is truly inspiring, and Boating Ontario is proud to support his journey.
