Compact Underwater Lights with New Color Combo

Apr 29, 2025

Transoms and hull bottoms are a complex maze of rigging, thru-hulls, steps, chines and strakes. At only 2” in diameter, Shadow-Caster SC2 Series Underwater Marine Lights are the ideal solution for adding below-the-waterline LED illumination to virtually any boat. The durable value-driven fixtures provide up to 3,000 lumens of intense LED illumination.

Built in the USA, SC2 fixtures are offered in four lighting options: Bimini Blue, Great White, selectable 12-Color, and the new Blue and White model. Owners of the Shadow-Caster Light Commander controller can set the color-changing model to virtually any hue via the Shadow-NET® CAN bus network.

The low-profile IP68 waterproof fittings are only 0.58″ high to reduce drag. Their compact size makes them ideal for use on any boat, even catamarans that often have acute vertical angles.
All four SC2 options are available with a bronze or black, high-strength composite housing.

Highly durable, bronze routinely outperforms anodized aluminum for below-the-waterline installations. The cost-effective marine composite version is compatible with all hull types and offers exceptional heat-dissipating properties. They surface mount with three included screws.

The SC2 Series uses a proprietary gel-filled design. Injected throughout the entire unit, the fluid eliminates condensation and/or water intrusion when under stress. The lens is a rugged, scratch-resistant tempered glass that’s impervious to acetone and other solvents, and delivers a 120° beam angle for optimum illumination.

Drawing a mere two amps when operating on 12V, SC2 lights use 10–30V input power. They feature transient surge and reverse polarity protection. With thermal throttling technology, the fixtures can be run safely out of the water.

Shadow-Caster offers a range of control options for its SC2 Series of underwater lights. With the Power Toggle Control, users can quickly step brightness up or down or choose among 12 standard colors, depending on the model. With its innovative Shadow-NET Control module and CC (color change) models, unlimited color, fading, dimming, strobe rate and music sync can quickly and efficiently be changed—all through a multifunction display and the companion app.

The SC2 Series of underwater lights from Shadow-Caster range in price from $224 to $274.99 USD. They come with a three-year standard warranty.

Good Advice that You Can Share – The Art of Anchoring

Unless a boat is secured, it will drift away. If it cannot be attached to something secure, such as a dock, piling, mooring buoy, tree, or boulder, it must be anchored. There is much more to anchoring than simply tossing the anchor over the side.

An anchoring system has two parts: the anchor itself and the rode which connects the anchor to the boat. To be effective, an anchor must have good holding power, and the rode must be strong enough to withstand the strains that are put on it.
