NORTHERN CALIFORNIA MARINE ASSOCIATION INTEGRATES WITH THE NATIONAL MARINE MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION

NMMA

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has announced the integration of the Northern California Marine Association (NCMA) and its members with NMMA. The integration comes in an effort to grow boating participation across the U.S. and expand the market for recreational boating.

NCMA and its members will be part of NMMA under the recently formed NMMA West. NCMA voting members unanimously approved the integration. “NMMA continues to look for new and strategic ways to help all segments of the recreational boating industry anticipate, adapt and prosper from changes in the economic landscape,” said Thom Dammrich, NMMA president. “With NCMA’s integration, we can help devote resources to spur growth of recreational boating in Northern California.”

“NMMA’s robust resources, in addition to its role as a leading producer of boat and sport shows, will help us to revitalize shows in northern California and provide our members with growth opportunities,” said Gary Clausen, NCMA president. “We were pleased by the feedback NMMA received from the June 2012 integration with the Southern California Marine Association (SCMA) and we expect our affiliation to strengthen the boating industry in Northern California.”

NCMA members, who were not already NMMA members, will receive paid NMMA membership as part of the integration through May 31, 2015. To guide the specific needs of new members in Northern California, including marine manufacturers, dealers and retailers, NCMA’s Board of Directors will become an advisory NMMA Board, with representatives appointed to the NMMA West Board of Directors, which reports to the NMMA Board of Directors.

NCMA joins the former Southern California Marine Association in its integration with NMMA.

In June 2012, NMMA opened Associate memberships to include to boat dealers, retailers and distributors to adapt to a changing industry and economic climate. This new membership approach models marine industry associations worldwide with membership inclusive of all industry segments.
