Boating Ontario members applaud Ministry of Natural Resources for revised Water lot Lease Agreements

April 21, 2026

Ontario’s boating industry applauds Minister Mike Harris and his team on the completion of revised Water lot Lease Agreements for Ontario marinas. With dozens of Boating Ontario members relying on these agreements to manage fixed operations, moving forward with the extension is critical to ensuring marinas can operate reliably throughout the boating season.

“Our government is taking action to give Ontario’s commercial marina operators the certainty they need to plan ahead and continue delivering great experiences for boaters across the province. By keeping fees predictable and affordable, we are supporting local businesses and helping protect the communities that rely on Ontario’s waterways.” Mike Harris, Minister of Natural Resources

“Having our dock rates locked in for the 2026 season and a fair market increase for 2027 to 2030, supports the boating industry’s desire to continue providing exceptional services to boaters across the province. With new families continuing to find appeal in experiencing Ontario’s 250,000 ++ lakes and rivers, the marine sector remains poised and ready to service their needs and exceed their expectations”, said Boating Ontario CEO, Rick Layzell.

Boating Ontario is proud and appreciative of the collaborative relationship with the Ministry of Natural Resources on the Aquatic Invasive Species issue and grateful for the extension on our Water Lot Lease Agreements.
