Luxury Tax on Boats Fully Repealed in Budget 2025

Andy Adams

November 5, 2025

The economic damage to Canada’s boating industry and the significant tax revenue losses that resulted from the imposition of the Luxury Tax on Boats (and on luxury cars and aircraft) is coming to an end.

In the November 4th 2025 Budget 2025, it was announced that the Luxury Tax on Boats was to be fully repealed. As we write this, the Government’s Budget 2025 has not yet been approved but we are hopeful that it will be passed and that the official announcement will come from Ottawa as soon as possible.

On behalf of the boating industry, Boating Industry Canada News Week Digest wants to thank all the industry members and private boaters who stepped up and made their voices heard in this three-year campaign to oppose the Luxury Tax.

Adding that public support to the major efforts by the NMMA Canada and the Canadian Marine Retailers Association was what got this unfair and counter-productive tax repealed.
