NMEA & ABYC ANNOUNCE 2018 COMBINED TRAINING SCHEDULE

The National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) and the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) have announced the 2018 Combined Electronics & Electrical Installer Training Schedule. This is the third year the associations have teamed up to offer these valuable courses to the marine industry. Students who successfully complete the four-day course earn three certifications: ABYC Electrical, Basic NMEA Marine Electronics Installer (MEI), and Basic NMEA 2000® Network Installer. The event is the marine industry’s premier training opportunity that is specifically designed as a one-stop shop for boat builders, installers, technicians, marine mechanics and surveyors to be trained on ABYC and NMEA standards. Two of the days focus on ABYC marine electrical standards and training, and two days on NMEA marine electronics standards and training.

December 2018

Location: New England Institute of Technology
December 3 – ABYC Marine Electrical Certified Training
December 4 – ABYC Marine Electrical Review & Testing
December 5 – Basic Marine Electronics Installer (MEI)
December 6 – Basic NMEA 2000 Installer Training

Attending the combined training class costs $1,195 for members of either NMEA or ABYC and $1,695 for nonmembers. Students receive all class materials, including the NMEA Installation Standard and ABYC Marine Electrical Study Guide, as part of the package. Lunch is provided for all four days.

The 2024 Marine Electronics Conference & Expo, held by the National Marine Electronics Association, (NMEA) took place September 16 to the 20th in Providence, Rhode Island. Boating Industry Canada was there for the first time and we were very impressed with what we found.

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
