As Boston Whaler wrapped up its 60th anniversary — a year filled with exciting product debuts, marked sales success and numerous marine-industry accolades — the company received another honor as the 170 Montauk took home a prestigious BOB (Best of Boats) Award in the category “Best of Fishing.”

“We’re honored to see our new 170 Montauk recognized by this esteemed organization,” said Boston Whaler President Nick Stickler. “The 170 Montauk embodies the deep commitment to purposeful design, effortless utility and cutting-edge technology that has always been a hallmark of the Boston Whaler brand.”

The BOB Awards were chosen by an independent jury of 18 specialized journalists representing all European watersports countries and the United States. Winners were announced during a ceremony held at the 2018 Berlin Boat Show. A statement from the jury commended several aspects of the Montauk: “With up-to-date technology and advanced hull design combined with practical layout, the 170 Montauk retains its top position as a classic center console. Quality details, comfortable and safe to handle. Great for fishing and easy to operate.”

Boston Whaler’s Regional Sales, Marketing and Customer Service Manager for Europe, Middle East, Africa & Asia, Alessandro Lorenzon, was present at the ceremony to accept the award. “I want to congratulate and thank the entire team for its amazing work on the new 170 Montauk,” said Lorenzon. “This award belongs to everyone at Boston Whaler responsible for designing, crafting and taking care of this wonderful product, before and long after we sell it.”
