OPTIMUS ELECTRIC STEERING ACTUATOR RECEIVES YAMAHA MOTOR GLOBAL AWARD

Global Award

Aug 20, 2019

Dometic announced it has received a Global Award for Excellence in Technology and Development from Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. for the SeaStar Yamaha Integrated Electric Steering Actuator.

To date, SeaStar Solutions; part of the Dometic Group, has shipped thousands of these advanced steering actuators for use with Yamaha XTO outboard motors on vessels around the world. This technologically advanced system was engineered to compliment high-performance Yamaha outboards with smooth, precise and trouble-free steering in the harsh marine environment.

SeaStar representatives traveled to Japan to accept this prestigious honor during the Yamaha Motor Co. 2019 Global Suppliers Conference. The fact that this marked the first time in history that this annual award from Yamaha Motor Co. was bestowed upon a North American supplier made the occasion particularly rewarding.

Eric Fetchko, President of Dometic Marine Americas says: “We were deeply honored to accept this award on behalf of our entire company. This highly contested award recognizes excellence in more than just the marine industry. SeaStar was competing with thousands of suppliers around the world manufacturing parts for Yamaha Motor Co. across a wide range of business sectors including motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, snowmobiles, golf carts, Waverunners, boats and outboard engines.”

The same advanced technology utilized in the new, award-winning Optimus Electric Steering Actuator, is being developed for outboards with conventional tiller arm, remote mount steering controls.  This will be available in late 2019 to OEMs installing Optimus Joystick and Optimus EPS systems.
