INDMAR MARINE ENGINES DONATES TO SUPPORT HURRICANE DORIAN RELIEF EFFORTS

Indmar Marine Engines

Sept 24, 2019

Indmar Marine Engines responded to a letter from Contender Boats, Maverick Boat Group and the NMMA that urged the marine industry to come together in support of our neighbors and friends. The letter encouraged the marine industry to contribute in efforts to reach a minimum combined donation of $250,000 for relief efforts in the Bahamas.

Indmar joined the marine industry by donating directly to the group that is doing work on the ground in the Bahamas, the Third Wave Volunteers.

Third Wave is a registered 501c3. They have deployed medical personnel and supplies via boat to the Abacos and have a C130 transport plane going back and forth from Miami with supplies. Supplies they are in need of at this point are tents for people to sleep in, cleaning supplies, chainsaws and clearing equipment, work gloves and generators. Commissioner Russell has assisted with securing a warehouse in Wynwood to collect supplies and they are receiving assistance at the Opa Locka airport as well. There is also a great need for monetary donations.

Here’s how you can join the marine industry in providing support:

1. Make a donation at Crowdise.  Please include “NMMA” next to your name or your company name so we can track the marine industry’s collective donations. Donations may be tax-deductible.

2. For large monetary, tax-deductible donations (U.S. tax Id is 82-3731839), please send to: Third Wave Volunteers Inc., 3566 Vista Court, Miami, FL 33133 — c/o Citibank ABA/Routing number 266086554. Third Wave Account #9145817339. Please note on Wire Instruction: For Bahamas Dorian Relief — NMMA.

3. For incoming foreign wire transfers on the account, please use Citibank ABA/Routing Number: 266086554 and SWIFT code: CITI US 33

4. Shipping supplies. Non-palletized supplies can be delivered to: Third Wave Volunteers, 537 NW 24th Street, Miami, FL 33127. Palletized supplies can be delivered to: Fountainbleu Aviation, C/O Third Wave Volunteers, 14200 NW 42nd Avenue, Opa-Locka, FL 33054.

Good Advice that You Can Share – The Art of Anchoring

Unless a boat is secured, it will drift away. If it cannot be attached to something secure, such as a dock, piling, mooring buoy, tree, or boulder, it must be anchored. There is much more to anchoring than simply tossing the anchor over the side.

An anchoring system has two parts: the anchor itself and the rode which connects the anchor to the boat. To be effective, an anchor must have good holding power, and the rode must be strong enough to withstand the strains that are put on it.
